Looking back at our 2023-2026 three year plan
Over the past three years the Children9s
Book Project has developed both
momentum and clarity around its singleminded purpose.
Greater public awareness of our work and a
wide range of champion partners and
funders now place us well for further scale
and impact.
We9ve grown from one to three hubs
nationwide and support four further cities
remotely. We benefit from the support of a
raft of trusts and foundations that share our
commitment to tackling childhood inequity
and benefit from the incredible support of
both publisher and retail partners that
recognise the potential in every single
surplus new or pre-loved children9s book,
whilst our corporate partnerships enable us
to scale and commit to schools year on year.
As ever, we have been underpinned
throughout by the support of an incredible
army of volunteers, both our regular
Children9s Book Project team and those able
to give us their time for a day.
Single-minded purpose
Our 2023-2026 strategy set out three
distinct ambitions:
1.Make it easy and instinctive for families
to donate books
2.Give children multiple opportunities for
independent, meaningful book choice
3.Build long-term partnerships in areas
of greatest need
Achievements since September 2023
Over this past three year period we have:
Gifted 1.9m books
Supported over 250k children and
families
Put on >6,500 mini book gifting festivals
Supported communities of 978
organisations with an average 55%
pupil premium
Celebrated 5-year+ partnerships with 15
primary schools
Developed capacity in Birmingham and
Leeds & launched in 3 8hub cities9
1,924,499 books gifted
Over 250k children and their
families supported
978 schools, community
groups, food banks and
prisons supported
6,500 mini book gifting
festivals put on
Over 50,000 families have
engaged with the positive
impacts of rehoming books
>910 metric tonnes of CO2
prevented from entering the
atmosphere via recycling or
pulping methods
