Nationwide this year for the
first time, Discovery gives
schools two books per child
every term plus the resources
for a whole school gifting
event. Each child received six
books across the year and
attends three curated events.
Piloted in conjunction with
Magic Breakfast, termly
donations to school breakfast
clubs support informal peer
on peer reading and book talk.
At the end of each term
children select two books
they’ve enjoyed to take home.
Our 40 green huts each attach
to a partner primary school
that receives termly donations
of books for selection by
children and families.
Designed to support volitional
reading and wider community
engagement, each hut is often
managed by a Y6 class.
Our secondary school offer
echoes the Go All In invitation
coined for the National Year of
Reading, inviting students to
select a book that mirrors
their wider interests or to
share and experience with
their peers.
Share a Story is our prison
gifting programme, now in its
fifth year. Parents in prison
can hand pick books to post to
their children along with an
accompanying letter to share
over the phone and to build
bonds.
