OUR BEAUTIFUL BOOKS
12
We gift every donated book with care
We are powered by surplus books:
Books that families have grown out
of and that lie idle on shelves or are
sent to recyclers.
Books that are surplus within the
publishing industry and might
otherwise be pulped.
We provide a solution for families, for
recyclers and for the wider publishing
industry that maximises the lifecycle of
every book, prevents waste and tackles
social inequity.
Books donated to us are gifted to families
with few books of their own to be read (or
re-read), to help change outcomes and to
create book buyers of tomorrow. We cap the
maximum quantity of any one title gifted to
an organisation to support maximum choice
and the widest exposure.
Our key book gifting partners commit
support on an annual basis, allowing us to
plan both the most effective storage and
distribution. Whether a small or large book
donor, we’re proud of our ability to find a
meaningful home for every book donated
and to share impact data with our partners.
Over 700 organisations have collected
books on our behalf this year:
128 schools
37 community groups
250 retail locations
105 offices
60 donation hubs
325 retail donation points
4 book recyclers
Incredible publisher support
This year 25% of our gifted books were donated
by the publishing industry, which increasingly
recognises the credible alternative we provide to
pulping. With access to books a matter of social
justice, the social return on investment achieved
by donating unusable / unsellable books for us to
gift to underserved communities offers a
powerful argument for the circular economy.
We are very grateful to every single one of the 45
publishers that donated to us this year, with
particular thanks due to the following:
